Itinerary: Day Trip to Azrou, Cedar Forest, and Ifrane (Excursion to The Middle Atlas From Fez)

Your Refreshing Escape to Morocco's Mountain Scenery

Your Middle Atlas day trip starts with a pick-up from your accommodation in Fes in the morning.

Then, we drive south, passing through the small town of Immouzer Kandar. We then take a scenic detour to the magnificent Daiet Aoua lake (its water level is seasonal). Here, you can admire the tranquil waters and the surrounding hills, a peaceful spot for birdwatching and enjoying nature.

Thereafter, we continue our journey to visit Ifrane, a unique town famous for its low temperatures, occasional snow, and distinctive alpine-style architecture houses – no wonder it is often called the "Switzerland of Morocco." Take some time to stroll through its clean streets and admire its European feel.

Next, we drive to the town of Azrou and then proceed to visit the nearby Cedar Forest, one of the largest in Morocco. This ancient forest is home to the playful Barbary macaques (monkeys). Feel free to feed them (responsibly, with appropriate food like unsalted nuts or fruit if permitted) while wandering through the majestic cedar trees and enjoying the fresh mountain air. This is a wonderful opportunity for wildlife photography and a unique interaction with these native primates.

You will have free time for lunch (at your leisure) in Ifrane, Azrou, or a suitable spot along the way, where you can enjoy local cuisine.

Finally, after a day filled with stunning scenery, charming towns, and memorable wildlife encounters, we drive back to Fes.

Depending on the time spent at each site, we might have the opportunity to visit additional places or viewpoints along the route. Your driver/guide will ensure a comfortable and enriching experience.

This is a private day trip, meaning the vehicle and driver/guide are exclusively for your party, ensuring a personalized and flexible experience throughout your journey from Fes.

Avoid sudden movements and listen to your guide's advice. If you choose to feed them, use appropriate food (like unsalted nuts or fruit, which can sometimes be purchased from local vendors).
