Discover Morocco's Most Spectacular Waterfalls & Atlas Mountain Scenery.
Discover Morocco's Highest Waterfalls, Scenic Hikes & Playful Monkeys
Discover the impressive Ouzoud Falls during this unforgettable day trip from Marrakech. Ouzoud Waterfalls are one of the most popular and spectacular natural wonders in Morocco, and also the second highest waterfall in Africa at an impressive 110 meters (360 feet) in height. This excursion offers a refreshing escape from the city and a chance to witness breathtaking natural beauty.
Firstly, we will pick you up from your Marrakech accommodation, then head towards the waterfalls, located approximately 160 km away. The scenic drive takes you through diverse landscapes, offering glimpses of rural Moroccan life.
After that, upon reaching the Ouzoud Falls, you will have ample time to explore the area. Take a walk along the paths that wind around the cascades, offering stunning viewpoints from various angles. You can also enjoy various activities with the locals, such as taking a small boat ride to get closer to the base of the falls or even swimming in the refreshing natural pools (seasonal).
Finally, after a day filled with natural splendor and memorable encounters, we return to Marrakech in the afternoon, leaving you with lasting impressions of one of Morocco's most cherished natural treasures.
Your Refreshing Escape to Morocco's Natural Beauty
Your Ouzoud Falls day trip commences with a departure from your accommodation in Marrakech at 8:00 am. We then embark on a scenic 3-hour drive through the spectacular Atlas Mountains foothills. The falls are located north of Marrakech, in the charming village of Tanaghmeilt. On our way to Ouzoud Waterfalls, we will drive past vast fields of olive trees as we get closer to our destination. The falls will become visible from a distance – this view alone is rather spectacular!
When we arrive at Ouzoud Falls, you will notice that the well-maintained walking paths extend up towards the top of the falls and down around the water streams and pools below. You can also choose to go for a refreshing swim in the natural swimming pools of the Ouzoud Cascade (seasonal and at your own discretion). Or, if you are feeling brave enough, you can join the locals and jump off the high cliffs into the water below!
After a pleasant morning exploring the different levels of the falls and enjoying the cool mist, you'll have free time for a traditional Moroccan lunch at your leisure in one of the local cafes or restaurants. Many of these are picturesquely situated in the sheltering bosom of the Ouzoud Falls, offering lovely views while you dine.
Thereafter, you can go back to explore the top of the falls. Here, you might possibly come across families of Barbary macaques (monkeys), who are accustomed to tourists and will likely welcome you in their own playful way! This is a great opportunity for photos and observing these native primates in their natural habitat.
Finally, your memorable day trip to the Ouzoud Waterfalls will end as we begin our journey back to Marrakech. The driver will drop you off at your hotel or Riad in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
This is a private day trip, meaning the vehicle and driver/guide are exclusively for your party, ensuring a personalized and flexible experience.
What to Wear: Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended for exploring the paths around the waterfalls, which can be uneven and involve some stairs. If you plan to swim (seasonal), bring swimwear and a towel. Sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses are also advisable.
Wildlife Interaction: While the Barbary macaques are generally friendly, please observe them respectfully and avoid feeding them inappropriate food. Your guide can offer advice on safe interaction.
Travel Time: The drive from Marrakech to Ouzoud Falls is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours each way, depending on traffic and road conditions.

There are well-maintained paths leading down to the base of the falls and around the different viewpoints. This involves some walking and stairs. The amount of walking is flexible; you can choose to explore extensively or enjoy the views from more accessible points. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended.
Swimming is possible in some of the natural pools at the base of the falls, especially during warmer months. However, always exercise caution, be aware of currents, and swim at your own risk. The water can be cold. Your driver/guide can advise on suitable spots if you wish to swim.
Yes, there are several local cafes and restaurants situated near the waterfalls, often with lovely views. They typically serve traditional Moroccan cuisine, such as tagines, grilled meats, and salads. Lunch is at your own expense, allowing you to choose according to your preference.
Ouzoud Falls can be visited year-round. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) generally offer pleasant temperatures and good water flow. Summer (June to August) can be hot, but the mist from the falls provides some coolness, and swimming is popular. In winter (December to February), the water flow might be stronger, and the air cooler, but it's still a beautiful sight.
