Your 9-Day Comprehensive Moroccan Discovery with Private Driver
Your 9-day Morocco tour itinerary starts by picking you up from the airport or your accommodation in Casablanca. As Morocco's economic center and largest city, Casablanca offers a vibrant introduction. We will visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in Morocco, strikingly located on the city's west coast on a promontory overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy free time for lunch.
Then, we explore more of the city, visit the amazing Corniche of Casablanca, make a photo stop at the iconic Rick’s Cafe, and see Mohamed V Square (Pigeons Square). (Please note: Depending on your arrival time, some stops might be postponed to the next day to ensure a relaxed pace). Overnight stay in a comfortable hotel in Casablanca.
After breakfast, we drive along the picturesque coastline to Rabat. As one of Morocco's imperial cities and the current capital, Rabat offers significant historical sites. You will visit: The Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and finally, The Kasbah of Oudaya with its charming Andalusian gardens. Enjoy free time for lunch.
Then, we head north through Ouazzane and the scenic Rif Mountains to reach the enchanting Blue City of Chefchaouen. The city is famous for its distinctive buildings and alleyways, all painted in various captivating shades of white and blue. Overnight stay in a traditional Riad in Chefchaouen.
After breakfast, feel free to wander through the beautiful blue alleyways of Chefchaouen, soaking up its unique and tranquil atmosphere. Then, we drive to visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. This remarkably well-preserved archaeological site is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site and features many beautiful mosaics, ancient pillars, and archways.
After strolling through the impressive ruins, we drive approximately 30 km to visit the city of Meknes, known as the Ismaili capital and one of Morocco's imperial cities. Here, we will explore: Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani basin, the Royal stables, the granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Then, we head to Fes. Overnight stay in a traditional Riad in Fes.
After breakfast, we will be exploring the Highlights of Fes city with an official local guide. Fes is considered one of Morocco's most important imperial cities, as well as its cultural and religious center.
Meet up with your local guide and start the day by visiting the magnificent Royal Palace gate. Then, drive through the historic Jewish quarter, also known as “the Mellah.” Continue to an ancient fortress for a panoramic view of the Medina and the city of Fes.
Then, enter the well-preserved medieval Medina (Fes el-Bali), a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will visit the iconic Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud), the main entrance to the old Medina. You will enter the Medina with your local guide (Walking Tour), visiting The Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine fountain, the famous Tanneries, and finally, the Quaraouin Mosque and University – recognized as the oldest existing, continually operating university in the world.
Finally, meet up with your driver in the afternoon and return to your Riad. Enjoy a free afternoon to relax or explore further at your leisure.
After breakfast in Fes, we drive south through Imouzzer to visit Ifrane, renowned for its cool climate, occasional snow, and alpine-style architecture – earning it the nickname "Switzerland of Morocco." Then, the tour continues to the ancient cedars forest near Azrou, where the Barbary macaques (also known as Barbary apes) live. Feel free to observe and feed them while wandering in the forest.
Later, we proceed to Midelt, where we will have free time for lunch. Our journey then takes us towards the Sahara Desert, navigating the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and following the picturesque Ziz River, with stops along the way for panoramic views of its stunning valley.
In the afternoon, we arrive at the edge of the magnificent Merzouga Sahara Desert (Erg Chebbi dunes). Here, you will switch to camels for an unforgettable trek across the vast sand dunes. You will make a stop on top of a high dune to enjoy the magical desert sunset. Finally, you continue to your luxury desert camp, a blend of traditional nomadic tents and modern hotel comforts. Here, you can enjoy traditional Berber drums music while dancing around a crackling campfire, under a vast open sky filled with stars. Dinner and an overnight stay in the camp.
After breakfast at the camp (or an early wake-up to witness the sunrise, followed by breakfast), we leave the desert to visit Rissani town, the ancient capital of the Tafilalet region. Rissani remains a significant trading hub, with a large, authentic souk (market) that is particularly lively on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
After a stroll through the Rissani Souk, we continue to Erfoud, renowned for its rich fossil deposits, where we can visit a workshop specializing in fossilized marble. Our journey then takes us through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad towards the spectacular Todra Gorges. Here, the Todra River has carved a magnificent canyon through the mountains, creating high, red cliff-sided walls – an ideal spot for rock climbers and nature lovers alike. Feel free to wander through the gorges and appreciate the stunning natural beauty. Enjoy free time for lunch in a local restaurant.
Afterwards, we continue our drive to the Dades Valley, via Boumalne Dades, making inevitable stops to admire the unique "monkey fingers" rock formation and for a panoramic viewpoint atop a mountain overlooking the Dades Valley. Finally, dinner and an overnight stay in a comfortable hotel in the Dades Valley.
After breakfast, we continue our trip towards Kalaa M'gouna to visit the Roses Valley, famous for its fragrant Damascus roses and the annual Rose Festival held in May. We then drive through the verdant palm groves of Skoura.
Later, we reach Ouarzazate, also known as the "Gateway to the Desert." This fortified village is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has served as a backdrop for numerous epic films and TV series. Enjoy a 20-minute hike to explore the Kasbah.
After exploring, we continue our journey towards Marrakech. Our route takes us through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, crossing the scenic Tizi-N-Tichka pass (2260m). Stops will be made for lunch (at leisure) and to take pictures at interesting spots. Overnight stay in a traditional Riad in Marrakech.
After breakfast, you will be exploring the Highlights of Marrakech, "The Red City," with an official local guide. Marrakech is considered one of the four imperial cities in Morocco and is famed for its vibrant energy. Your visit will include: The Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the Ben Youssef Quranic Mosque (Medersa). You will also enjoy a stroll through the largest traditional Souk/Market in Morocco.
Enjoy free time for lunch near the bustling Jemaa El-Fna square. Later on, you will visit the iconic Koutoubia Mosque (the largest in Marrakech, exterior view) and the enchanting Majorelle Garden.
Finally, you will be transferred to your accommodation. Feel free to wander through the magical Jemaa El-Fna square on your own in the evening, experiencing its unique atmosphere.
On the last day of your 9-day Morocco tour, and depending on your flight time, you might have some free time in Marrakech for last-minute souvenir shopping or further exploration.
